History
It was originally named “Hazel Glen” in the mid-1870’s when it was settled by Patrick Reid. In 1895 it was renamed, Doreen.
Doreen sits at the foot of the Yarra Ranges, and the area has plenty of trees and plants and is quite hilly. To the west, the suburb is surrounded by forested banks of the Plenty River. Being on the urban fringe, Doreen has a wide variety of animal and bird life.
